Performances & Workshops

Discover the music and culture of the Andes
Since its beginnings in 1996, RAYMI has had one mission: to preserve and instill an appreciation for its cultural legacy through the international language of music and dance.
RAYMI offers creative musical performances and educational workshops to give listeners and students a dynamic and positive perspective on the Andean culture.

Performances
Experience the indigenous music of the Andes with a musical performance by RAYMI. This D.C.-based Latin American group can perform traditional Andean music using traditional instruments, or fusion music, which combines Andean instruments with contemporary instruments such as electric bass, electric guitar and drums.

Performance Options
RAYMI offers a variety of performance options to accompany any event.

Workshops
Led by certified professionals, RAYMI's workshops encourage students and attendees to explore the role of music and dance within the various cultures of the Andes.
Dance Workshops
Students and performance attendees will be taught simple century-old steps and learn about dances from the Andes, primarily Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Live music will be provided.
Musical Workshops
During this workshop, students and performance attendees will learn how to make, assemble and play zampoñas (pan flutes). In addition, they will leave the workshop with a sufficient understanding of the instrument and its history.
